Oak Creek swears in trustees

Austin Colbert

— Prior to Thursday’s regular Oak Creek Town Board meeting, Mayor Nikki Knoebel and three trustees — who were elected during the town’s April 5 municipal election — were sworn into office.

Knoebel, entering her fourth term, administered the oath of office to incumbents Wendy Gustafson and Kelly McElfish, as well as new member Daniel J. Gosnell, who replaced Bill Auer. Thursday marked the beginning of each trustee’s four-year term. The mayor only serves two-year terms.

Knoebel then re-appointed trustee Chuck Wisecup, who is also the town’s fire chief, as mayor pro-tem.

Following this, the town appointed its municipal officers, each of whom is returning to their same role. Mary Alice Page-Allen will remain as town administrator/clerk, Sandra Jacobs as the town treasurer, Ralph Maher as police chief, Robert Weiss as town attorney and Ralph Cantafio as municipal judge.

Also Thursday, the town board held a joint, informational meeting with the Routt County Board of Commissioners and county manager to discuss the possible expansion of secondary dwelling units in South Routt. This was the beginning of a larger discussion on the topic throughout the county.
