Oak Creek receives GOCo grant for Decker Park work

Michael Schrantz

— Work on Decker Park is set to continue in Oak Creek.

The town has been awarded a $62,340 Great Outdoors Colorado grant to complete some repairs and improvements at the park that hosts multiple events.

Work will include upgrading the basketball court, refurbishing the volleyball court, some trails work, restroom upgrades, and adding tetherball and disc golf.

Some of the work — such as the basketball court and restroom improvements — will be held off until after Labor Day so as not to interfere with events like Taste of South Routt and Oak Creek’s Labor Day festivities.

For this grant, Oak Creek partnered with LiveWell Northwest Colorado and Rocky Mountain Youth Corps.

Rocky Mountain Youth Corps will head up the trail work, and the organization has been involved in building trails in Oak Creek in the past.
