Oak Creek mayor Nikki Knoebel elected to 5th term

Incumbent Nikki Knoebel, left, defeated Bill Auer in the mail-in election for Oak Creek mayor that ends Tuesday.

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — Nikki Knoebel has been elected to another term as the town of Oak Creek’s mayor.

Knoebel earned 135 votes to challenger Bill Auer’s 45 votes in Tuesday’s election.

Auer, who has been a resident of Oak Creek for more than 20 years, said he decided to run because he disagreed with the town’s recent decision to explore a large land acquisition.

Knoebel has served eight years as the town’s mayor.
