Oak Creek makes changes to 2015 budget
August 14, 2015
Oak Creek — The Town of Oak Creek approved a resolution at its regular board of trustees meeting Thursday that will increase allowed expenditures from its general fund budget in anticipation of a 2015 budget shortfall.
The resolution will add $163,143 to this year's total budget, with $75,708 going toward the general fund. Oak Creek had an original general fund expenditure budget of $725,626.
A large portion of the increased funding will go toward the purchase of a local property, which “will include a parking area on the north side and downtown park area on the south side.” The approval and purchase of the lot will take place at an upcoming board of trustees meetings.
An additional $53,648 will go into the electric fund budget for 2015, $16,584 to the water fund budget and $17,203 to the sewer fund budget. A sizable portion of the money will cover unexpected expenses that are common when developing an annual budget so far in advance, said town administrator/clerk Mary Alice Page-Allen.
This is the first time this year the town has used its supplemental budget.
"It incorporates some of the direction the board has provided," Page-Allen said.
