Nordic combined skiers place seventh

A weekend of racing at the FIS Junior World Ski Championships wrapped up with a middle-of-the-pack finish for a foursome of Steamboat Springs-connected Nordic combined athletes.

Racing Saturday in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Jasper Good, Ben Loomis, Ben Berend and Koby Vargas placed seventh in a four-man relay.

Each athlete skied a 5-kilometer leg after the team jumped to eighth place. The team moved up one spot in the ski portion of the event.

Austria dominated that part of the day, moving up from sixth place to edge out Germany and win by 16 seconds. The U.S. team finished 7 minutes, 9.9 seconds out.
