Five SSWSC athletes place in top three at first USASA snowboard slopestyle competition

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — Nine Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club athletes competed in the United States of America Snowboard and Freeski Association’s Copper Snowboard Slopestyle competition at Copper mountain on Saturday, Feb. 2.

In their first slopestyle competition of the season, the Steamboat athletes didn’t disappoint, all landing at least one of their judged runs and five placing in the top three.

Aimee Wild finished in first place for the 7 and younger age group. Aaron Wild placed second in the 8- and 9-year-old boys age group while Rocke Weinberg added a second-place finish on the girls side.

In the 16- and 17-year-old men’s competition, Jacy Werner placed second overall, and Johnny Duty placed third overall.
