Men arrested for allegedly taking crane for joy ride
Two men were charged with first-degree criminal trespass, theft and criminal mischief after breaking into a crane and operating it.
Edmond Charles Hanson, 24, and Jonathan Daniel Rainbow, 25, both of Denver, were arrested early Saturday on suspicion of operating a crane at the construction site of the new Chadwick condominium development. The development is under construction at the base of the ski area and just off Village Drive and AprÃs Ski Way.
Assistant Police Chief Art Fiebing said they threw a rock into the window to get in the crane. They found a manual on how to operate the crane and started it up.
When police arrested the pair, they found the manual in one man’s possession.
Fiebing said a nearby resident called the police department to complain about the noise and said it sounded as if they were just revving engine.
Besides the broken window, Fiebing said no other damage was done.
