Funding available from Ski and Resort Corp.

Officials from park, recreational and cultural facilities or groups can apply for funding of projects from the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. Contribution Committee.

For 20 years, the committee has given $100,000 to the city of Steamboat Springs — $25,000 to maintain parking at Ski Time Square, and $75,000 for grants. The committee has funded projects throughout the city and Routt County.

Applications are due in the Steamboat Springs City Hall, 137 10th St., by 5 p.m. Friday. Applications can be picked up at City Hall and at the main office for the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp., 2305 Mount Werner Circle, or online at

Drop off jackets for coat drive until Saturday

Lift-Up and Steamboat Cleaners are sponsoring a fall Coat Drive with drop-off today through Saturday. Donate gently used winter coats at City Market, Safeway, Steamboat Laundromat at Curve Plaza, and Steamboat Cleaners, next to City Market.

Advance tickets for Bust of Steamboat are on sale

Tickets are on sale for this year’s Bust of Steamboat, which will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Three Peaks Grill .

Tickets are $25 in advance and are available at All That Jazz, Off the Beaten Path Bookstore or Farrow Repair. All funds benefit uninsured or underinsured women of Yampa Valley who are in need of mammograms or financial assistance for breast cancer treatment.

Bring dollar bills, because at the end of the evening, one bra designer will be awarded the coveted “Bust of Show” award. This is the bra that receives the most dollar votes. A guitar autographed by cancer survivor Melissa Eth–ridge will be auctioned, as well.

Community Foundation grant forms being taken

The Yampa Valley Com–munity Foundation quarterly competitive grant forms are being accepted through 5 p.m. Nov. 1. The Community Foundation allocates funds for projects and programs that demonstrate progress toward achieving healthy community goals in the areas of art and culture, education, environment, health and human services, and recreation. The Community Foundation will consider proposals from organizations and individuals from nonprofit organizations in Routt and Moffat counties. Candidate selector tool available on Pilot Web site

The Steamboat Pilot & Today has developed a “candidate selector” tool on its election Web site.

The candidate selector is a multiple-choice test on city issues that the Pilot & Today gave to all City Council candidates. Candidates were asked to select the answer that most closely resembled their views. The responses were entered into a database on the Web site. Now users can take the same test and see which candidates’ views most closely reflect their own.
