Crime Stoppers seeks information on vandalism

Over the past several weeks, several private and public properties have been vandalized by unknown subjects.

A stylized symbol was either pasted or painted in numerous places in Steamboat Springs.



If you have information about this or any other crimes, call Routt County Crime Stoppers at 870-NAB’M (870-6226). This line does not have caller ID.

We want your information, not your name. You will remain anonymous and can earn up to $1,000 for your information. Routt County Crime Stoppers also offers a cash award for information leading to the arrest of fugitives.



Youth orchestra holds auditions Saturday

The Steamboat Springs Chamber Orchestra Youth Orchestra and Ensemble Program will hold placement auditions for its fall/winter season from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Depot. The first rehearsal will be Oct. 3. Rehearsals take place from 3:45 to 6 p.m. Fridays at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Call 879-4353 to set up an audition time. Questions call 879-9008, Ext. 103.

Human resources exam study group being formed

Human resources professionals who are interested in forming either a fall or spring study group for the Professional in Human Resources or Senior Professional in Human Resources Certification Examinations should call Jill Cooksey at 846-5574. The group also seeks certified people to provide volunteer support and instruction.

Library seeks volunteers for Halloween party

Bud Werner Memorial Library is seeking parent and teen volunteers to help with its annual Halloween party. The party will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. 879-0240.

High school seniors can join leadership program

Applications are being accepted for an Academy Leadership Program, open to high school seniors and conducted by instructors from the U.S. Air Force Academy. The applications are available at high school guidance offices and must be handed in by Oct. 15. The program, which is free, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Depot.

Heeling Friends to hold fall recruitment drive

Heeling Friends, Yampa Valley Medical Center’s pet visitation program, will hold a fall recruitment drive for new dog-handler teams from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 6 and 8 at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. Pre-registration is required. Call 871-0021.

‘Self-Help’ celebration scheduled for Saturday

The United States Department of Agriculture, the Regional Affordable Living Foundation and the Rural Community Assistance Corporation will hold a “Self-Help” celebration at 11 a.m. Saturday at West End Village. The celebration is in recognition of a $388,750 grant awarded to Mutual Self Help affordable housing program.
