Mythology Distillery expands offerings with new pop-up location at Steamboat Resort base
Mythology Distillery will soon offer pre-batched cocktails, craft beers from Storm Peak and more at a new pop-up location in Torian Plum Plaza just off the Steamboat Resort slopes.
“We are so excited about doing a pop-up this winter,” Mythology owner Scott Yeates said Monday. “It came together quick. We worked with them a little bit in November, and then it became a reality in December, and we signed an agreement just maybe two weeks ago. So it’s going to be a sprint to get open.”
Yeates anticipates the new pop-up will open Thursday, with plans to offer customers seven pre-batch cocktails and local beer on tap from Storm Peak Brewery. The pop-up will also serve up charcuterie boards and dumplings.
“Our whole goal is to offer the same great-quality cocktails that we have been serving at our campus, and we have some kind of small plates we think go really well for après,” Yeates said.
The cocktail menu will include a variety of offerings including the popular Elk River Old Fashioned made with Mythology’s Hell Bear American Whiskey, pine tea simple syrup, and orange bitters, as well as a pickled whiskey Old Fashioned that is a collaboration with Steamboat Salt Company.
Yeates said the new location, which had been Routties BBQ, has about 40 seats inside, but the big draw will be the huge outdoor patio that features a couple of fireplaces and overlooks a large open space that is a popular gathering place for skiers and riders in the spring.
The pop-up initially will be open noon-6 p.m. Thursday through Monday, though hours could expand depending on the reception.
Yeates said Mythology will run shuttles to the location at specific times that will coincide with tours of the main campus at 2875 Elk River Road. There will also be brand ambassadors on staff each day to engage with guests and introduce them to the Mythology brand.
Yeates said that in the summer many customers come to Mythology’s main campus to enjoy the large outdoor area.
“We’ve been really busy out there this winter,” Yeates said. “In the winter, I think we get a lot of people that are coming out looking for exceptional craft cocktails, but also people looking for something else to do. We do a ton of distillery tours and a lot of cocktail classes.”
Mythology offers distillery tours throughout the year, but Yeates said he recently started offering Whiskey Alchemy where guests have a chance to enjoy a guided tasting of small-batch and limited-release whiskeys paired with delicious small snacks, as well as Whiskey Barrel Après, a deep dive into the production process with a whiskey tour of Mythology’s rack house and sampling of four different types of whiskey.
