Steamboat Springs — Trace Musgrave resigned from the Hayden Town Board this week, Town Manager Russ Martin said today.

The board is scheduled to formally accept the resignation at its meeting Dec. 11 and then will seek an interim replacement for Musgrave, Martin said.

Musgrave moved to Arizona for job reasons, Martin said. He worked for Connell Resources and then TCD before going to another company, Martin said. Musgrave’s family initially stayed in Hayden while Musgrave worked in Arizona, Martin said.

“He was a good council member. : We were hoping that he would be able to come back, but he’s not, so he formalized the whole thing,” Martin said.

Musgrave was appointed to the board in January. He filled a vacancy created when Trustee Ken Gibbon became mayor to replace Joseph Schminkey, who resigned last fall.

Musgrave was elected to the seat in April. His term runs until April 2010, Martin said.

“It’s a good, long seat,” Martin said. “There’s no requirement for any special election, no reason to have a special election.”
