Museum seeks nominations for annual Leckenby, Larson awards

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — The Leckenby and Larson Awards Committee associated with the Tread of Pioneers Museum is seeking nominations for the Leckenby Pioneer Award and the Stanley L. Larson Award. These awards honor individuals who have enriched the quality of life in Routt County by serving public institutions, preserving local history or contributing significantly to the county’s heritage.

The Leckenby Pioneer Award is given to a living person in Routt County, and the Stanley L. Larson Award has been given posthumously.

Nominees for the Leckenby Pioneer Award should:

• Have lived a total of 30 years in the county. The nominee does not have to be living here now.

• Be involved with the community, responsive to community needs and serve as a representative of the history of the community.

• Demonstrate personal integrity.

• Be inspirational to youth.

 Nominees for the Stanley L. Larson Award should:

• Have lived in Routt County and must now be deceased.

• Have made a major contribution to Routt County.

Nominations, with a short summary of the nominee, should be emailed to cbannister@treadofpioneers.org by Friday, Sept. 14. Contact information should be included with the nomination. Nominations from previous years may be resubmitted.
