Multiple wrecks Friday evening snarl traffic on US 40, Colorado 131

At least three wrecks were reported on Routt County highways on Friday, March 3, including one on Colorado 131 and two more on U.S. Highway 40.

According to Colorado State Patrol, there were no major injuries reported with any of the three wrecks.

At 6:45 p.m. CSP Master Trooper Gary Cutler said that authorities were still working crashes on U.S. 40 over Rabbit Ears Pass and on Colorado 131 outside Oak Creek.

The wreck east of Steamboat on U.S. 40 was called in at 5:49 p.m. and involved four vehicles, including one belonging to a Routt County sheriff’s deputy, Cutler said. While there was property damage, Cutler said there were no reports of injuries and the road opened back up around 6:20 p.m.

According to Cutler, the wreck Friday on Colorado 131 involved a pickup that was pulling a trailer and went off the road. That wreck was reported shortly after 6:30 p.m., and Cutler said that authorities from Oak Creek were handling the call with state troopers busy working the other crashes.

Additionally, there was a three-vehicle crash that was reported at mile marker 117 west of Milner on U.S. 40 Friday evening, though Cutler said there were also no reported injuries.
