Moses Mikaelyan: 2A is vote for more expensive groceries

How you label things matters. I’m sure people who write for newspapers understand this.

You guys, the Steamboat Pilot & Today, labeled the tax on pot and alcohol, the very things tourists come here to consume, as “sin tax,” and you labeled the tax on our groceries — 2A — and the headlines of letters to the editor with things like “A vote for Steamboat.”

No. It’s a vote for more expensive groceries.

Ask people, some of whom can’t afford a vacation, if we want to subsidize someone else’s vacation? Do we want more tourists, more VRBOs, nightly rentals, higher rent for us and more traffic?
