Monthly collections down 0.28% for Steamboat Springs

The City of Steamboat Springs has published the final September 2023 sales, use, accommodation, and STR tax report. The sales taxes decreased by 0.28% compared to the September 2022 collections, or an increase of $9,244.

Year-to-date sales tax collection is 4.31% more than year to date through the same period last year. For the past five years, September collections represent about 8.38% of annual collections.

When comparing this September to the same month last year, the notable changes in collections by category are in marijuana at -13.54%, construction and home improvement at -10.87%, and miscellaneous retail at 7.17% over last September. Changes were seen in most geographical area categories except Highway 40 Corridor.



Accommodation Tax is primarily dedicated to local trail projects. A small amount each year is dedicated towards the marketing of these projects and capital improvements at Haymaker.
