Moffat County School District has asked its five high school football coaches to resign following a hazing incident that happened at a football camp several weeks ago in Evanston, Wyoming.

Superintendent Brent Curtice confirmed that Moffat County High School Principal Kelly McCormick asked the coaches to resign, saying that he received a formal report from McCormick on the matter Wednesday.

Thursday morning the district posted openings for the head football coach and four assistant coaching positions on its website’s job page.

Craig Middle School’s football coach was also at the camp, but has not been asked to resign, Curtice said.

The Craig Daily Press has contacted the football coaches for comment and left messages with three of them.

On Tuesday, the district concluded its investigation on the alleged football camp hazing incident where parents claim freshmen football players were subjected to physical abuse.

“The administration has followed school board policies and procedures, keeping the safety of our students top priority,” Curtice said in a statement. “The school district will not comment on the specifics of the investigation or any discipline imposed as a result of this investigation due to the privacy rights of students and staff.”

The administration will be able to release more information about what this means for the school in upcoming days, but most of its investigation relates to personnel issues, which are legally protected as private.
