Diane Mitsch Bush is getting a more prominent spot on one of the state Legislature’s most impactful committees.

Mitsch Bush, D-Steamboat Springs, has been appointed vice-chairwoman of the House Transportation and Energy Committee.

“Colorado’s transportation system has long been underfunded, with demands on it dramatically increasing,” Mitsch Bush was quoted as saying in a news release announcing her appointment to the committee. “Having a robust, multimodal transportation system is critical to continuing our economic recovery.”

The committee considers matters concerning motor vehicle law, traffic regulation, transportation funding, public infrastructure, and other items involving the state transportation system, according to the Colorado Legislative Council’s website.

The committee also has legislative oversight responsibility for the Department of Transportation, the Public Utilities Commission and the Colorado Energy Office.

Mitsch Bush also will serve on the Agriculture, Livestock and Natural Resources and the Health, Insurance and Environment committees.

Mitsch Bush was elected to her second term in November.
