Minor suspected of stealing beer: The Record for Thursday, March 28, 2019

9:34 a.m. Routt County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called about a report of theft from a business in the 10 block of Moffat Avenue in Yampa.

10:10 a.m.Deputies were called about a report of theft in the 27700 block of Whitecotton Lane. 

4:17 p.m. Steamboat Springs Police Department officers conducted code enforcement on a series of businesses along Lincoln Avenue. The businesses had not adequately secured their dumpsters, and officers are concerned bears will be more active in the area with the warmer, spring weather.

6:00 p.m. Officers were called by residents concerned about the welfare of their friend, whom they haven’t seen in awhile. Officers checked on the friend at his residence, and he was fine.  

7:34 p.m. A woman contacted officers after losing her driver’s license at Steamboat Resort. 

7:36 p.m. Officers were called about an assault in the 1000 block of Village Lane. Someone was being aggressive and grabbed another person. 

7:47 p.m. Officers issued an illegal dumping citation to a woman who had been using someone else’s dumpster. When officers confronted her, she got angry and threw her trash across the street in the 2600 block of Longthong Road. 

9:25 p.m. Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue firefighters were called about an elevator emergency at a business in the 2200 block of Storm Meadows Drive. The elevator was working normally by the time firefighters arrived.

10:17 p.m. Officers were called about someone yelling inside a business in the 500 block of Marketplace Plaza. They were gone by the time officers arrived. 

10:35 p.m. Officers were called about a report of shoplifting at a business in the 10 block of Anglers Drive. Someone had stolen a beer from the business. Officers contacted a suspect, a minor, who was suspected of stealing another beer from a nearby business. Officers issued an MIP, as well as a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Total incidents: 53

  • Steamboat officers had 33 cases that included calls for service and officer-initiated incidents such as traffic stops.
  • Sheriff’s deputies had 12 cases that included calls for service and officer-initiated incidents such as traffic stops.
  • Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue firefighters responded to seven calls for service.
  • Oak Creek Fire Protection District firefighters responded to one call for service.
