Mike Middleton: Routt County Rifle Club welcomes West Steamboat Neighborhoods
The Routt County Rifle Club has 40 acres of private property on the west side of Steamboat Springs. We are a nonprofit organization with 500 members. A few weeks ago, the Steamboat Springs City Council enacted an ordinance approving Brynn Grey’s West Steamboat Neighborhoods development and annexation. Brynn Grey is buying land from Steamboat 700.
RCRC has been working with David O’Neil and Melissa Sherburne from Brynn Grey for nearly three years to iron out some issues that existed between RCRC and Steamboat 700. Thanks to their efforts, Steamboat 700, Brynn Grey and RCRC have now signed a new agreement that assures the status quo for the Routt County Rifle Club. Routt County Rifle Club with continue to operate with a conditional use permit from Routt County in our present location for many years to come.
The Routt County Rifle Club board of directors will not oppose the development of the West Steamboat Neighborhoods. Further, the RCRC board of directors urges it members to not participate in any signature petitions putting the annexation to a public vote.
We have renewed confidence that RCRC will continue to be a valuable asset to our sportsmen and women, locals and law enforcement.
We want to thank City Council for taking an interest in the negotiations between Brynn Grey and the Rifle Club over the last several months. Their interest and advocacy for the RCRC are very much appreciated.
