Meeker closes out Hayden girls
The Hayden High School girls basketball season came to an end Tuesday night when the Tigers fell to Meeker, 57-38, in the district tournament.
“We didn’t play our best game,” coach Michelle Wilkie said. “We played hard but just not well enough to close the deal.”
The loss leaves Hayden with a 6-13 record.
Senior Kara Cozzens led the Tigers with one last monstrous effort, overcoming a twisted ankle to score 17 points and grab 15 rebounds.
The team trailed by 18 at half and couldn’t dig into that lead in the second, despite what Wilkie said was a solid third quarter.
“We had big second and third quarters, but not big enough,” she said. “We played our hearts down the stretch this season. With how far these kids came, I’m really proud of them and not disappointed in this season.”
