Martha Drake Young: Diane Moore served Advocates for over 30 years

As a former volunteer at Advocates Building Peaceful Communities, it came to my attention via an email from the acting director that Moore had stepped down as director of Advocates. No more information regarding Moore’s departure was given.

Moore has built a successful agency over three decades of being its director. Her work has garnered awards and recognition throughout Routt County and Colorado. In addition to offering crisis support to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, she has developed programs appropriate for presentation at secondary schools. Under her guidance Advocates has received generous financial support through grants, private donations and fundraisers.

For her to have left the agency without any explanation offered by the acting director or the board of directors of Advocates is an insult to Moore and the community that has long supported her and her work. I am left questioning the motives and ethics of the members of the board of directors of Advocates.

Thank you.
