Margaret Huron: Let’s continue supporting education by voting ‘yes’ for 2B

Our Steamboat community has been supportive of this half-cent sales tax for education for 25 years; please continue to do so. This is not a new tax; it is a renewal of an initiative that was developed to assist with keeping our class sizes small — an advantage that many public schools do not enjoy.

About a decade ago, Steamboat voters also approved a measure to share part of this revenue with neighboring school districts, acknowledging their critical needs as well as those in our district. In addition to providing a better learning environment for Steamboat school children, smaller class size is a benefit that attracts and retains high quality teachers – especially important in a current climate of teacher shortages in Colorado.

Please consider how this measure impacts our children and teachers in the best possible way and continue to support the Education Fund with the half-cent sales tax. Vote “yes” to 2B.
