— Hayden police arrested a 37-year-old man Monday who they think sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl.

The man reportedly has been living in Craig and Steamboat Springs with friends. His bond was set at $20,000 in Routt County Court, and he is due back in court Jan. 7.

He was arrested on suspicion of sex assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, first-degree criminal trespassing, DUI, driving on a revoked license for alcohol violations and child abuse.

According to an affidavit filed in Routt County Court, the girl said the man gave her alcohol and on a separate occasion touched her inappropriately. The girl said she was touched by the man on a bed, and the man then passed out.

Police arrested the man after responding to a 911 call at a Hayden residence Monday. Police suspected the man drove drunk and then illegally entered the residence.

While being interviewed by police at Routt County Jail, the man denied giving alcohol to the girl and also denied the inappropriate touching.
