Man screaming obscenities: The Record for Wednesday, March 27, 2019

6:24 a.m. Routt County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called about a man screaming obscenities in front of the historic Routt County Courthouse.

8:43 a.m. Steamboat Springs Police Department officers were called about a reported burglary in the 3100 block of Chinook Lane. A woman thought that a man was trying to break into a vehicle, but it turned out he was just getting into his roommate’s car.

8:44 a.m.A caller told officers about a person yelling at people at a gas station in the 600 block of Lincoln Avenue. Officers were unable to locate the yeller.  

9:20 a.m. A woman called officers to report a suspicious person at a church event in the 700 block of Oak Street. The person had been taking pictures of the event, which the woman thought was strange.

9:39 a.m. A driver called officers to report that someone stole the license plates from their vehicle.

10:45 a.m.Officers were called by a resident in the 800 block of Broad Street who had received some medication in the mail that had since disappeared. 

12:35 p.m. Deputies were called about a reported drug violation at a business in the 29500 block of Routt County Road 27 near Oak Creek. An anonymous caller accused two employers of using drugs.

4:11 p.m. A driver called officers about a vehicle that almost struck his own car at Mount Werner Circle and Ski Time Square Drive. Officers contacted the vehicle in question, but the driver claimed that the other man was to blame for the near collision.

4:27 p.m. Officers were called by an employee of a hotel in the 1000 block of Walton Creek Road who had just been fired and wanted to file a report about it. 

10:12 p.m. Officers were called about a vehicle driving suspiciously in the 2200 block of Bear Drive. The caller did not elaborate. 

Total incidents: 36

  • Steamboat officers had 22 cases that included calls for service and officer-initiated incidents such as traffic stops.
  • Routt County deputies had 10 cases that included calls for service and officer-initiated incidents such as traffic stops.
  • Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue firefighters responded to four calls for service.
