Man killed in Steamboat construction accident

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — A Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue ambulance leaves the scene of a construction accident Thursday afternoon at a home being built on Steamboat Boulevard.

A 48-year-old man working at the site was seriously injured after being struck by a piece of steel. The man was taken to UCHealth Yampa Valley Medial Center and died from the injuries.

The name of the man was not being released pending notification of family members.

“It appears to be a tragic accident,” Steamboat Police Commander Jerry Stabile said. “We’re just heartbroken.”
