Man killed in hit-and-run crash

— The Colorado State Patrol is looking for the driver and car involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a McCoy man.

The crash occurred about 4 a.m. Thursday near mile marker 5 on Colo. Highway 131 in neighboring Eagle County.

CSP investigators believe Thomas Landauer, 76, was outside his Toyota pickup for an unknown reason in the northbound lane when he was hit by an unknown vehicle. The vehicle then left the area. Landauer was pronounced dead at the scene.

CSP believes the vehicle that fled was a larger sport-utility vehicle or pickup with minor to moderate front-end damage. The vehicle also possibly has a broken headlight.

Anyone with information is asked to contact CSP at 970-824-6501 and reference case number 4C161404.
