The man who was seriously injured in a crash Thursday morning on Rabbit Ears Pass is recovering.

Matt Ingles, 33, lives in Grand Junction, but he has friends in Steamboat Springs and is a clinical sales representative with Intuitive Surgical. Ingles does work at Yampa Valley Medical Center with the facility’s robotic surgery program.

Doctors at Denver Health are trying to save one of Ingles’ legs. He has had three surgeries, and more are expected in the future.

Ingles is a veteran who flew Blackhawk helicopters in the Middle East. He was a second lieutenant in the Army from 2007 to 2012.

Friends have set up a fundraising website to help cover costs the Ingles family is incurring. The website is tinyurl.com/jqgqfmb.

Ingles’ immediate family lives in Missouri and will have to stop working in order to care for him.
