Man injured in bicycle collision

— A man was taken to the hospital with broken bones early Thursday morning after he reportedly collided with another bicyclist on the Yampa River Core Trail near the Depot Art Center.

Assistant Fire Chief Bob Struble said the man and another person were both riding bicycles around 2:30 a.m. when they collided head-on.

The man who was taken to the hospital was suffering from several broken bones and cuts, he said.

Struble did not know whether the other bicyclist was a man or a woman but said the person sustained minor cuts and was not taken to the hospital.

Struble did not know whether the bicyclists were wearing helmets.

One of the bicyclists was intoxicated, he said.
