Man found sleeping in lobby: The Record for Sunday, May 12

1:37 a.m. Routt County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a reported burglary in the 31500 block of Aspen Ridge Drive near Steamboat Springs.

5:09 a.m.  A bear was near a dumpster at an apartment complex in the 700 block of Walton Pond Circle. It was gone when Steamboat Springs Police Department officers arrived.

7:37 a.m. Officers were called to a report of a man sleeping in the lobby of a building in the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue. He said he’d been waiting outside for a friend to go have breakfast. It was cold, so he stepped into the lobby and accidentally fell asleep.

9:26 a.m. Officers were called to a report of suspicious people at a business in the 100 block of Lincoln Avenue. Two people were being obnoxious and were confrontational when asked to leave. They ultimately left before officers arrived.

10:18 a.m. Deputies and Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue firefighters investigated a report of smoke in the area of Routt County Roads 14 and 35. It was a controlled agricultural burn.

9:06 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a trespass. A man had been warned several weeks ago not to sleep in the vestibule of the Steamboat Springs Community Center. He was found sleeping there and arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor trespass.

9:27 p.m. Deputies received a fireworks complaint near Milner.

  • Sheriff’s deputies had four cases that included calls for service and officer-initiated incidents such as traffic stops.
