Man dies in Rabbit Ears accident

— A 32-year-old Oklahoma man died Thursday night after the delivery truck he was driving to Craig rolled on Rabbit Ears Pass, partially ejecting the man from the vehicle.

Routt County Coroner Rob Ryg said Shawn Johnson of Checotah, Okla., was pronoun-ced dead around 8 p.m. at the scene of the accident.

Johnson was driving a white Dodge Ram truck hauling a trailer loaded with building materials west on U.S. Highway 40 near mile marker 141 when he lost control coming around a left hand curve and began to roll the truck, according to a release from the Colorado State Patrol.

The truck rolled off the north side of the road, coming to a rest on its top.

Johnson was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident and was partially ejected from the vehicle.

No other passengers or vehicles were involved.

Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be contributing factors in the accident, Ryg said.

Speed may have contributed to the accident, the State Patrol said.
