— Routt County Coroner Rob Ryg on Friday was still trying to contact family of the man killed in a crash discovered late Thursday afternoon.

The Colorado State Patrol investigated the fatal crash along Seedhouse Road near Running Elk Drive.

Joggers found the crash at around 4:35 p.m. Thursday. Colorado State Patrol Cpl. Rob Debelak said the incident occurred during the early morning hours Thursday.

The name of the 50-year-old Clark man who died in the crash was not being released until family was notified.

According to a news release issued by the Colorado State Patrol around midnight Thursday, the silver 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 was being driven east and exiting a curve to the right when it went off the road and rolled about 20 feet down an embankment along the Elk River.

The pickup came to rest on its passenger side facing north, striking several trees during its roll, according to the Patrol.

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

The Patrol, which is still investigating the crash, said alcohol impairment is suspected as a contributing factor.

The Routt County Sheriff’s Office, North Routt Fire and the Routt County Coroner’s Office also responded to the crash.
