Man arrested on burglary charge

— A 19-year-old Steamboat Springs man faces felony charges for allegedly entering a home Monday evening.

Taylor Ryan Cooper faces felony charges of second-degree burglary and criminal mischief for allegedly entering a home in the 800 block of Broad Street.

Cooper was arrested Tuesday and appeared in Routt County court Wednesday afternoon.

Judge James Garrecht set bond for Cooper at $5,000.

According to a court file, Cooper allegedly entered the residence after his truck was vandalized. He told police he entered the home “to find out who vandalized his truck,” court records show.

Inside the apartment, Cooper allegedly overturned the coffee table breaking vases and causing other damage to the home, court records show.

“There are some facts in this case that are in dispute,” said Erick Nordstrom, Cooper’s attorney.

The standard bond amount for a burglary is $20,000, but Garrecht reduced the amount to $5,000 after hearing from Nordstrom.
