Man arrested in car theft case

Alexis DeLaCruz

— An Iowa man was arrested in Wyoming early Tuesday on suspicion of stealing his uncle’s 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 from a construction site in Steamboat Springs on Monday.

Steamboat Springs police Sgt. Dale Coyner said Wyoming officials arrested Shane Jorgensen on suspicion of second-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft after Jackson County officials spotted Jorgensen driving the stolen car north toward Wyoming.

Jorgensen’s uncle, Dwayne Landon, 44, of Iowa reportedly was working at Yampa Valley Regional Airport with a group of men replacing airport hangars when he became involved in an argument with Jorgensen, police said.

Jorgensen reportedly stole the truck, left his uncle’s tools at his apartment and left Routt County, police said.

Coyner did not know when Jorgensen would be brought back to Routt County.
