One of three men arrested on suspicion of possessing almost 3 pounds of marijuana appeared in Routt County Court on Tuesday.

Lucas Merle English, Jason Saint Onge Odea and Adam Daniel Gelbart were scheduled to make their first appearance in court Tuesday.

All three were in a vehicle in which a Colorado State Patrol trooper found drugs and $12,500 in cash during a routine traffic stop Dec. 22, according to police reports.

They were arrested on suspicion of possessing 8 ounces or more of marijuana and possessing marijuana with intent to distribute.

Only English, 24, of Boulder, appeared in court Tuesday. English was charged with possession with intent to distribute. Routt County Judge James Garrecht continued his case for a status hearing April 14.

Odea, 23, of Steamboat Springs, who was charged with driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and weaving, had his first appearance in court continued to April 28.

The case against Gelbart, 24, of Steamboat Springs, was dismissed after investigations did not find fingerprints on any of the evidence, court files indicate. The District Attorney’s Office dismissed the case March 22.

Odea was driving a 1998 Toyota Tacoma on Dec. 22 when he allegedly cut off Trooper Ryan Parker. When pulled over, Odea showed signs of being intoxicated, Parker noted in his report, and failed voluntary roadside maneuvers.

After Odea consented to have his truck searched, Parker said he found three large bags of marijuana weighing 2.87 pounds and $12,500 in $5 to $100 bills in a backpack.

When Parker interviewed the men, all said they did not own the marijuana or the money or know where it came from, the trooper’s report states.

English, who was the front-seat passenger, also had a pill bottle containing marijuana, the report stated. A pipe with burned marijuana residue also was found.
