Lynn Abbott: For the classical fans
Classical music fans, we have a special treat coming our way Friday at 10 a.m. Just tune in to WWFM at 91.1 on your FM dial to hear Live from Steamboat, a broadcast from the Strings Music Festival of 2013.
The program will be: Arron Copland’s “Three Latin-American Sketches” performed by the Strings Festival Orchestra with Andre Cardenes conducting. Next, we’ll hear the Mystery Sonata number 10 in G minor entitled “The Crucifixion” by Heinrigh Ignaz Franz Biber with instrumentalists Carrie Krause on violin and Alexandra GWUN on harpsichord.
Closing the concert is Piano Quintet No. 1 in C minor, Op. 1 by Ernst von Dohnany.
Similar broadcasts of Live from Steamboat will be played every last Friday of the month at 10 a.m., compliments of the teamwork of Strings Music Festival, WWFM, and West Slope FM.
