Lynette Weaver: ‘Filling the Canvas’ was powerful story

The Steamboat Pilot & Today’s cover story on Sunday, Jan. 28, “Filling the Canvas,” is one of the most heartfelt and engaging stories I have read. Thank you, Audrey Dwyer for educating, enlightening and opening up stories of silence that have been long hidden.

The graphic and heart-wrenching art created by students Josie, Madeline, Corrie, Finn, Taylor and Anonymous are to be welcomed with open arms by this community for their bravery, honesty and insight. The artwork is truly captivating and real. Thank you!!!

Today, our community and our country are finally opening up more and more to reveal the hidden abuses and degradation of not only girls and women, but all genders, ages and race and the staggering numbers of those trying to overcome, grow and heal from their shattered self-esteem.

Thank you, Steamboat Pilot & Today, nice work. And again, to our remarkable students with such intuition and emotion.
