Loss ends Hayden boys’ season

— The Hayden High School boys basketball season came to an end Tuesday night playing at Hotchkiss, the home team in the first round of the District 5 tournament.

The Tigers lost, 72-28, falling to 3-16 on the season.

“They jumped on us. They were really long and athletic, big and aggressive, and it worked really well for them,” Hayden coach Jody Harvey said.

Juan Carlos Valdez scored 14 points for Hayden while Thomas Rauch had eight.

“We really progressed this season,” Harvey said. “We’re not the same team we started out as. We had some ups and downs, but I told the team this shows us how much we have to work to get better. I was very pleased with how they progressed and their buy-in with the program trying to get better.”
