Today

World Cup leader Hannu Manninen of Finland tore through a 7.5-kilometer cross country course Tuesday en route to his second straight World Cup win of the week.

Steamboat’s Todd Lodwick kept his string of top-10 finishes alive, placing 10th in the sprint event to lead the American team.

Teammates Carl Van Loan finished 31st, and Johnny Spillane raced to 34th in the final standings.

Manninen moved from 12th place after jumping to win a Nordic combined sprint event by 6.5 seconds over Norwegian Petter Tande. Lodwick advanced three places in the race and finished 10th.

The event was the last of three in Japan over the past week. The Nordic combined World Cup Tour will take a short break before returning to Oberstdorf, Germany, for the next event Feb. 14.
