Former Sailors spiker returns to Colorado

Former Steamboat Springs volleyball standout Bayli Stillwell will return to Colorado next month when the James Madison University Dukes take the court during the Coors Invitational in Fort Collins.

Stillwell is a 2003 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School. She is entering her senior year at James Madison, where she plays right-side hitter. Stillwell’s team is scheduled to play Florida Atlantic at 5 p.m. Sept. 1, Wake Forest at 10 a.m. Sept. 2 and host Colorado State at 8 p.m. Sept. 2. Spectators can purchase single match tickets for the tournament for $5. Children’s tickets are $3.



Stillwell grew up in Steamboat and was a member of the high school’s junior varsity and varsity teams from 1999 to 2003. Stillwell played junior varsity for coach Wendy Hall her first year of high school and moved up to the varsity level her final three seasons. Bayli, who is a psychology major at James Madison, is the daughter of Chris and Cindy Stillwell.

Deadline approaching for flag football league



The deadline to register for the city of Steamboat Springs’ Adult Flag Football League is 5 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Parks and Recreational Services office.

The team fee is $430. The season runs from early September to late October. Any questions can be directed to Parks, Open Space and Recreation at 879-4300.
