Lisa Brown: Hospice daffodils a huge success

Thank you to everyone who participated in our annual Hospice Daffodils fundraiser. We are grateful to the 60 volunteers in Routt and Moffat counties who gave their time (more than 200 hours) to help with this event.

This fundraiser also would not be possible without the 220 businesses and organizations that pre-ordered daffodils and seven local retailer partners who provided us space on sale day.

Year after year you adorn your offices, schools, homes and businesses with our cheerful daffodils. It’s a deeply meaningful gesture recognizing our skilled and compassionate hospice staff and volunteers and the many patients who have spent their final days in peace and dignity under our care.

Janet Panebaker is among volunteers who dedicate their time to support Hospice patients and their families. It’s a heartening and inspiring experience and speaks to the importance of having this service available in our communities.

“Patients are generally so kind, open and appreciative. I’ve been amazed at the connections I’ve found with people in Hospice,” she said. “I think it’s important for people to talk about end of life and the joys and wonderful things that can happen around that time in a person’s life.”

We want to extend a special thank you to Alpine Floral and Susanne and Daryl Bostrom, who helped start this fundraiser more than 20 years ago and kindly donate their time to order, pick up and deliver fresh daffodils to our communities.

Thank you Routt County for helping ensure our hospice and palliative care program will continue to be here for residents who need our care and support as they near end-of-life.

Sincerely,

Lisa Brown,

Northwest Colorado Health CEO
