Library to screen Peabody Award-winning film

Bud Werner Library and the Steamboat Dance Theatre will present the next installment of their “Dance on Film” series at 6:30 p.m Tuesday, Feb. 4.
The screening will feature the film, “Can You Bring It: Bill T. Jones and D-Man in the Waters,” an award winning documentary that traces the remarkable legacy of one of the most important works of art related to AIDS, the library said in a news statement.
The film won a 2024 Peabody Award and tells the story of choreographer, dancer and director Bill T Jones’s “tour de force ballet in 1989, giving physical manifestation to the fear, anger, grief and hope for salvation the emerging Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company felt as they were embattled by the AIDS epidemic,” according to the statement.
Through a collage of interviews, archival material and uniquely powerful cinematography, the lyrical documentary uses the story of an iconic dance to illustrate the power of art and the triumph of human spirit.
