Letter to the editor: The spirit of Steamboat shines bright
Letter to the Editor
I want to give a big shout out to the Steamboat Dance Theatre. If you missed last weekend’s performances, you missed a fantastic community event which showcased not only an extraordinary amount of talent but more importantly the heart of Steamboat.
The level of commitment and positive energy from the production team, choreographers and dancers was undeniable. The mission of Steamboat Dance Theatre (which is a nonprofit organization) is “to engage, educate, and enrich the communities of the Yampa Valley through dance and movement.”
The annual concert is a fundraiser which raises funds to bring dance into schools and to provide scholarships so that dance is accessible to all in the community. Anyone can participate in the concert, regardless of age, gender, ability, body type, whether you’ve just moved to the Valley or have lived here your whole life.
All four performances showed the soul of Steamboat — so much positivity, energy, inclusivity, empowerment and support.
The audience showed its love for the dancers throughout and in return the dancers provided two hours of entertainment and joy. Thank you for your hard work preparing for the concert and for showering the community with love and entertainment.
In a time where we are surrounded by so much division, it was heartwarming to see so much community. You showed us what it can mean to live the “Best Life.”
