Letter to the Editor: Thank you to Steamboat skiers
Wednesday was a beautiful day for skiing. The snow was nice and the crowds were thin. I was deliberately making my line down an easy slope. From the back a young lady skied into me, knocking me off my skis. She stopped, apologized and asked if she could help. I replied I was okay.
But, I clearly was rattled and had a bit of a yard sale going on with my equipment strewn across the hill. As she left, three other ladies stopped and helped me collect my gear. They made sure I had my stuff and was doing okay. I still had to get my ski on, poles organized and myself put back together.
They waited until I replied that I was fine. I think I thanked them for their help and concern. They skied off wishing me well. As I was putting on my ski, I struggled a bit. Another nice lady stopped and helped me get my ski on. She waited until I was able to ski away and I thanked her too.
I’m writing this to let the Steamboat community know there are still many people on the mountain who ski for fun and are on the lookout to be kind and helpful. Don’t let anyone tell you the Steamboat resort is not a great place to ski.
BTW ladies, your ski outfits were killer good!
