Letter: Apology owed Oak Creek

Regarding your Sunday article on Cargo: It was a low-down, slanted, poor excuse for journalism. “Scum” in print. How very arrogant of the Steamboat Pilot & Today.
How very easy it was to print so many “cheap shots” about Cargo Rodeman and how very difficult it was for you to resist taking advantage of a woman who is so publicly vulnerable and courageous. The truth can make anyone vulnerable.
I live in Steamboat and was thoroughly ashamed and disgusted with this town’s only newspaper.
I have never met Cargo, but I believe several things about her are absolutely certain. Even with her colorful history, this woman is representing more courage, caring and honesty than you and your newspaper and far, far too many of our country’s so-called “leaders.”
The Pilot & Today owes Cargo Rodeman and its readers a public apology.
