STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — A lifelong Routt County resident who helped turn her family's working ranch west of Steamboat on Trout Creek into a major tourist draw has announced a campaign for Routt County treasurer.

Lane Iacovetto, Routt County's deputy clerk and recorder, said she wants to bring her government and small business management experience to the treasurer's office.

"When you own a business, you do everything from scrubbing the toilets to making the big financial decisions that affect the future of your business," Iacovetto said. "I feel like I have so much to offer over there. I really enjoy accounting and numbers. I know the value of people's property and the investment they put into that especially in a resort town."

Iacovetto said if she is elected treasurer, she will focus on improving customer service in the office while also maintaining strong relationships with other county departments.

"I have really good working relationships with the other elected officials and the clerk's office," she said.

She also said she's seen a trend of clerk's office employees in the state vying for jobs as treasurer.

"Honestly, I'm a fixer," she said. "I think there are so many things that could easily be fixed and changed to make the county run more smoothly. What I really want to do is go in there and grease the wheels and create better systems."

In her campaign announcement, Iacovetto said she has helped turn Saddleback Ranch into a dynamic, successful and complete multi-entity business.

Iacovetto has launched a campaign website at vote4lane.com.

Iacovetto is competing for the Republican nomination for county treasurer with Patrick Karschner, who is currently the county's chief deputy treasurer.
