Knife threat: The Record for Wednesday, Jan. 9

1:15 a.m.  Steamboat Springs Police Department officers responded to two men who had been drinking and refused to leave a business on the 800 block of Lincoln Avenue. Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue was called to transport one of the men, but a sober friend picked them up.

1:35 a.m. Officers were called to a hotel in the 2300 block of Mount Werner Circle where two women had started fighting in the restaurant inside the hotel. Officers intervened, and a husband of one of the women was escorted out of the hotel. The other woman walked away, and no further action was taken.

1:42 a.m. Routt County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a report of a prowler in the 21600 block of Colorado Highway 131 near Phippsburg.

8:53 a.m. Officers responded to a lost, sober man walking around Mount Werner and trying to find his hotel. Officers showed him to his hotel.

11:33 a.m. Deputies were called to a suspicious incident.

12:38 p.m. Officers responded to a person who claimed to have been assaulted in July 2018. The alleged victim had not filed a report at the time of the assault, but they were having trouble sleeping and breathing due to what they claimed to be a broken nose.

12:48 p.m. Steamboat firefighters were called to assist an unconscious person in the 10th block of Valverdant Circle.

1:38 p.m. Officers were called about an ongoing theft investigation at a store in Central Park Plaza. An employee was cited for stealing around $500 in cash over a series of days.

2:18 p.m. Steamboat Fire Rescue firefighters and deputies responded to a skier collision at Steamboat Resort.

2:37 p.m. A clerk at a phone business on the 500 block of Lincoln Avenue called police about a belligerent customer. Officers talked to the man, who complained the employees were not helping him with a phone problem.

5:19 p.m. Routt County Search and Rescue volunteers were called to rescue two snowmobilers stranded in the Buffalo Pass backcountry.

7:11 p.m. A wallet and snowboard were stolen from a car in the parking lot of Howelsen Park.

7:34 p.m. Officers were called about a fight between two men at a restaurant in the 1700 block of Central Park Drive. One of the men claimed a vehicle driving through the Central Park parking lot had almost hit him. He swung at the car, but it was gone when officers arrived.

10:08 p.m. Police and deputies were called to a disturbance in the 3000 block of Lincoln Avenue that resulted in an arrest for felony menacing. A person is suspected of threatening roommates with a knife.

Total incidents: 60

  • Steamboat officers had 32 cases that included calls for service and officer-initiated incidents such as traffic stops.
  • Sheriff’s deputies had 17 cases that included calls for service and officer-initiated incidents such as traffic stops.
  • Steamboat firefighters responded to 10 calls for service.
  • Search and Rescue volunteers responded to one call for service.
