Ken Collins: Update your passport

There are a record number of GOP retirements happening this election cycle. Those family-oriented folks just want to spend more time with the family. Even if they weren’t retiring, they, hopefully, would get that chance, anyway.

Maybe a better explanation is this: Morally, it’s getting harder and harder to support this administration. Legally speaking, there is little to defend. As far as truth-telling, that critter left the barn about 16 months ago. And, as rich as he is, not even Comrade Putin is willing to drop off a bag of rubles to every red incumbent.

What I expect is that the next few election cycles will see many more retirees from the party of trump (small t). Since most of them apparently put dollars over patriotism in worth, they are riding out their terms hoping the dirty money will compensate the destruction of their legacies. What they’ve done to the kids; what they’re trying to do to the poor; what they want to do to women; and what they hope to do to the healthcare industry are things that have no moral explanation. But, they are scared of the trump-base. And they should be since a pretty high percentage are probably packing heat. It’s getting dangerous out there. Rallies for trump are bordering on fanaticism. Who knows what could happen if/when the GOP loses Congress? My suggestion? Make sure your passport is up-to-date.
