— Hannah Kearney grabbed the top spot on the podium to stave off a Canadian sweep on Saturday at a World Cup freestyle moguls event in Calgary, Alberta.

The victory was the first of the season for Kearney. Behind her for the United States were KC Oakley in 11th, Keaton McCargo 15th, Mikaela Matthews 16th, Ali Kariotis 17th and Steamboat Springs freestyle skier Sophia Schwartz 27th.

On the men’s side, Steamboat skier Jeremy Cota posted a ninth-place finish. Bryon Wilson led U.S. skiers in seventh. Troy Murphy was eighth, Pat Deneen 17th and Sho Kashima 23rd.

The World Cup circuit will stay in North America, stopping at Deer Valley, Utah, next starting Thursday. Steamboat skier Lane Stoltzner will get a start there.
