Jim D. Copeland: Thanks for the lift
June 20, 2010
I want to publicly thank the Steamboat Springs School District, and specifically Transportation Director Ed Dingledine, for coming to our rescue June 8. We had sent 10 students, a sponsor and a driver to the State FFA Convention in Craig. Our bus broke down between Kremmling and Steamboat Springs. After calling a mechanic for help, we were still stranded on the side of the highway.
Because our district is located in the northeastern corner of the state — 22 miles east of Sterling — it would have taken at least six hours to get another bus to our group. After failing to find any transportation alternatives, I called the Steamboat Springs School District for help and was routed to Dingledine. He rescued us by sending a driver (who made a great impression on our FFA kids) and bus to pick up our kids and get them to Craig. We were able to get another bus to them the next day.
It is heartening to know that in our time of need, the Steamboat Springs School District was willing to help. Our community and school are very grateful and now feel a closer connection to Steamboat Springs.
