Jen Summers: Education is everything

Every day, more and more teachers write in requesting we support them and vote “yes” to 4A, 4B and 4C. Teachers in this community are asking for our support to help them do their jobs to the best of their ability, and we should give it to them.

I am the mother of three children, two of which go to Soda Creek Elementary School. Even if you do not have kids in the school system right now, maybe you once did, or maybe you will, and future generations deserve to have the opportunity to get the best possible education they can.  Education is everything, next to community.

Steamboat Springs is no doubt expensive and requires sacrifice. We all make sacrifices to live here. My husband and I own a home, and honestly, the tax increase that we will be required to pay with 4A, 4B and 4C is, quite frankly, tiny compared to what it cost us to purchase that home.

The kids in this town are brimming with potential. Build them what they need to foster that potential and give their teachers what they most certainly deserve.

Please support 4A, 4B and 4C.
